    List of Bank Holidays in April 2023: Every year, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) publishes a list of bank holidays that informs consumers of all the days when bank activities will be suspended. Check out all of the days and occasions in April when the bank will be closed owing to various local and national holidays.

    April 2023 Bank Holidays: The complete list of bank holidays for April has been made public by the Reserve Bank of India. It is the first of four months to be exactly 30 days long, and the second of five months to be no longer than 31 days long. Aside from the second and fourth Saturdays, there are some prominent holidays this month including Mahavir Jayanti, Good Friday, Bohag Bihu, Himachal Day, and Eid-ul-Fitr.

    The fourth month of the year according to both the Gregorian and Julian calendars is April. It is believed that April comes from the Latin verb aperire, which means "to open," as it is the month when trees and flowers start to bloom. As the seasonal equivalent of October in the Northern Hemisphere and vice versa, it is frequently connected with spring in the Northern Hemisphere and falls in the Southern Hemisphere.

    A total of 10 Bank Holidays will be observed in April excluding the second and fourth Saturday of the month and Sundays. It is to be noted that not all banks in all areas will be closed on these holidays.

    As per Reserve Bank of India standards, all Indian banks will be closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month in addition to every Sunday. While the first, third, and fifth Saturdays of the month will remain open as any other weekday.

    Important Bank Holidays April 2023

    Mahavir Jayanti: The 24th Tirthankara in Jainism is Mahavira. During the Chaitra month, on the thirteenth day of the Moon's bright half, his birthday is commemorated as Mahavir Jayanti. The purpose of the day is to promote Mahavira's teachings and improve the state of the world.

    Babu Jagjivam Ram’s Birthday: Indian Politician Babu Jagjivan Ram who fought for Indian independence was born in Bihar. He was the one who founded the ‘All India Depressed Classes League’, an organisation devoted to achieving equality for the untouchables. To celebrate the Legacy of Jawaharlal Nehru's interim youngest minister, the Indian states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh observed his birthday as a regional holiday.

    Good Friday: The Christian community observes Good Friday, the Friday before Easter, to remember Jesus Christ's Crucifixion. People hold a fast and pay a church visit on this day to honour Jesus Christ's death. It is also referred to as Good Friday, Easter Friday, Black Friday, and Holy Friday.

    Dr Ambedkar Jayanti: On April 14, Ambedkar Jayanti or Bhim Jayanti is celebrated to honour the founding father of the Constitution. People in India sometimes referred to his birthday as "Equality Day." Various national officials, including the President, Prime Minister, and chairmen of the largest political parties, are accustomed to visiting the Ambedkar statue in New Delhi's Indian Parliament to pay respects.

    Bohag Bihu: One of the most important Assamese festivals is Bohag, also known as Rangoli Bihu. The harvest season's start is commemorated on this day, which is also regarded as the first day of the Hindu Solar calendar. During this two-day event, people pray to Lord Agni Dev and their ancestors and offer them food, clothing, and sweets to express gratefulness and seek their blessings.

    Himachal Day: On April 15th, Himachal Pradesh celebrates Himachal Day. On this day in 1948, Himachal Pradesh officially became a state. To honour their existence, a unique parade is also held in Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh.

    Garia Puja: India's Tripura region celebrates Garia Puja. It is a seven-day festival that starts on the final day of the Chaitra month and lasts through the seventh day of the Vaisakh month. People worship Baba Garia annually and cook feasts at home, and celebrate the festival with friends and families.

    Eid-ul-Fitr: Eid al-Fitr is one of the two official holidays celebrated in Islam. The religious celebration signifies the completion of Ramadan. It falls on the first day of Shawwal in the Islamic calendar and is celebrated as per the new moon sighting by local religious authorities. This festival of joy and sweetness is also known as Chhoti Eid, or simply Eid.

    However, even on bank holidays, consumers do not need to worry about using any banking services or executing financial transactions. On all bank holidays in April 2023, users can have easy access to IMPS, NEFT, UPI, ATM services, net banking, mobile banking, and other banking-related services.
