BSF Women Squad
The Border Security Force (BSF) deployed the first batch of women guards on Pakistan border in Punjab on September 11. These personnel were given training in weapon handling, intelligence gathering, border management, unarmed combat, frisking and guard duties. BSF formed its first women battalion when 178 recruits passed out of the BSF's Subsidiary Training Centre at Kharga near Hoshiarpur July 25. The paramilitary force of India has plans to induct 35,000 women guards in the paramilitary force in the next four years.
