DRDO Tests Interceptor Missile
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully tested an indigenous interceptor missile to establish ballistic missile defence (BMD) shield. During the trial on March 6, the interceptor missile destroyed the enemy ballistic missile at an altitude of 80 km. The modified version of the Dhanush surface-to-surface missile was used as enemy missile. The test was conducted at Wheeler Island off the coast of Orissa. Such type of interceptor missile test was first conducted in 2006.
