One of the biggest sports events in the world, the FIFA World Cup, is here. The championship kicked off in November and football fans all around the world tuned in to watch their favourite teams and players in action.
The inaugural edition of the FIFA World Cup was played in 1930, and it has since been organised every four years, barring 1942 and 1946 due to World War II. The latest and 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup was held in Qatar from November 20 to December 18, 2022. It was the first Football World Cup to be held in the Arab world and 32 countries participated to win the coveted championship.

Since the group stages, the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar was filled with historic moments, shock exits and unexpected results. Japan and Morocco emerged as the wild cards of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. However, it is the finals that'll be remembered and talked about for years to come.
Argentina and France met for the first time in a FIFA world cup final and both aimed to create history - France as the first consecutive winner since 1962 and Argentina as the winner for the first time since 1986. After taking a match-winning 2-0 lead in the first half, Argentina were on the cusp of lifting the trophy but Kylian Mbappe of France equalised within a minute.
The same scenario repeated in the 30 minute extra time with Lionel Messi scoring a crucial goal and Mbappe soon equalising. The fate of the match was ultimately decided with a penalty shootout. Argentina emerged victorious, beating France 4-2 on penalties.
