As we know that the Chief Minister is the head of the Government appointed by the Governor. According to the Constitution of India, Chief Minister is the de facto executive authority of the State. The term of the Chief Minister is not fixed and he holds office at the pleasure of the governor. But the governor can't dismiss him as long as he enjoys the majority support in the legislative assembly. But, if he loses the confidence of the assembly, he must resign or the governor can dismiss him.
