Virat Kohli surpassed Sachin Tendulkar's record, becomes fastest to reach 12,000 ODI runs

On 2 December 2020, in the third ODI against Australia, Virat Kohli surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to become the fastest player to reach 12,000 runs in ODIs.  

Captain Virat Kohli reached this mark in his 251st ODI, and 242nd inning. In comparison, it took Sachin Tendulkar 309 matches and 300 innings to reach the said mark.

Virat Kohli is the second highest scorer for India in One Day International Cricket behind Sachin Tendulkar's 
18,426 runs from 463 ODIs. He is also the fastest batsman to breach 10,000 run-mark in his 205th inning.

1. Virat Kohli is the only Indian batsman who has secured 890 rating points in the ICC ODI ranking. Earlier best rating of 887 was held by the Sachin Tendulkar in 1998.

2. Virat Kohli has become only the second India batsman after Sunil Gavaskar to reach the 900-point mark in the ICC Player Rankings for Test Batsmen.
